Introduced in 2019 following the extraordinary success of the celebrated Daytona 'Rainbow', reference 116588TBR represents one of Rolex's boldest and most imaginative gem-set interpretations of the Cosmograph Daytona. Combining the unmistakable architecture of the legendary chronograph with elaborate gem-setting and an unconventional decorative design, the model occupies a fascinating position at the intersection of high jewellery and high-performance watchmaking.

The extraordinary dial immediately sets the watch apart. Its symmetrical arrangement of champagne and black lacquer creates an abstract pattern evocative of a tiger's face, with the two chronograph counters cleverly incorporated as its 'eyes'. The composition is further enriched by pavé-set diamonds, whose brilliance contrasts dramatically with the black lacquered elements and warm tones of the yellow gold case.

Equally spectacular is the bezel. In place of the Cerachrom bezel typically associated with Oysterflex Daytona models, reference 116588TBR features 36 invisibly set baguette-cut diamonds. With virtually no visible metal separating the stones, the technique creates the impression of an uninterrupted circle of diamonds surrounding the dial. Invisible setting is among the most technically demanding forms of gem-setting, requiring exceptional precision in the cutting and positioning of each individual stone.
