A CIZHOU-TYPE CREAM-GLAZED VASE
NORTHERN SONG DYNASTY (AD 960-1127)
The vase has a tapering globular body and trumpet-form neck, and is covered with a white slip under a transparent glaze, which is crackled in areas, and ends inside the neck and around the flared foot.
9 ¼ in. (23.5 cm.) high

A similar Cizhou-type vase from the Falk Collection, but with a lobed body and a foliate rim, was sold at Christie's New York, 16 October 2001, lot 58.
Another similar vase, but of larger size (30.5 cm. high), in the Linyushanren Collection, but with the glaze stopping slightly short of the foot, is illustrated in the exhibition catalogue, The Classic Age of Chinese Ceramics: An Exhibition of Song Treasures from the Linyushanren Collection, Christie's Hong Kong, 22-27 November 2012, p. 122, no. 48.
