拍品专文

The iron steamship Guyandotte, named after a river in West Virginia and the site of an 1861 Civil War battle, was built in 1882 by J. Roach & Sons in Chester, Pennsylvania for the Old Dominion Steamship Company. The ship struck an anchored barge on the Elizabeth River on the night of February 1, 1887 while steaming to New York from Norfolk, Virginia. The ship was retired in 1927.
