John Charles, 3rd Earl Spencer (1782-1845) acquired Wiseton farm, Nottinghamshire through his marriage to Esther Acklom (1788-1818). He was a passionate countryman and built up a successful herd of shorthorn bulls noted for their strengh and even temper.
