Portrait of Calvin Hatch; and a companion portrait of Zilpha Palmer Hatch

Calvin Hatch was born in East Bridgewater in 1803, the son of James Hatch. A man of many trades, he was listed variously as a musical instrument maker in 1850 and then worked as a cabinetmaker with Nelson Foss and Isaac Packard. In 1829, he married Zilpha Palmer and they had two children, both of whom died in infancy.
