ATTRIBUTED TO THE GRAND DUCAL WORKSHOPS, FLORENCE, CIRCA 1705, THE DESIGN PROBABLY BY GIOVANNI BATTISTA FOGGINI, THE CASE PROBABLY BY LEONARD VAN DER VINNE, THE MOVEMENT SIGNED FRANCESCO PAPILLION IN FIRENZE
Of architectural form, the broken pediment with scroll cresting, above a shaped panel inlaid with intertwined flowers and foliate scrolls, flanked by associated ormolu figures and vases, the, above a frieze drawer inlaid with scrolling foliate motifs and with panels of amethyst, above a beautifully inlaid large panel with foliate scrolls, flowers, leaves, strawberries and centred by a bird below the dial painted with clouds, above an arabesque motif, flanked by onyx columns, the sides with finely inlaid panels depiciting flowers, the lower section similarly inlaid with foliate scrolls and flowers on a long drawer, on a moulded base, the movement signed Francesco Papillion In Fiorenza, the ormolu figures associated
