George Simson, cabinet-maker and undertaker, traded from 19 St Paul's Churchyard from 1787 until 1840, latterly in partnership with his son. His label is found on highly fashionable furniture of exotic woods.

With satinwood banding overall, the D-shaped hinged rectangular top enclosing a green baize-lined playing-surface above a tablet frieze on a leaf-wrapped baluster shaft and platform base with downswept legs with brass paw caps and castors, labelled 'GEORGE SIMSON, UPHOLDER, CABINETMAKER & UNDERTAKER, NO.19 Southside of St Pauls Church Yard, LONDON' and inscribed 306 IO/IB/X AB/S/N and in chalk '151/18068' AND '67'
