A painting of similar size showing similar monks in a different wooded landscape was formerly in the collection of Paolo Simeoni, Rome (see L. Muti and D. de Sarno Prignano, Alessandro Magnasco, Faenza, 1994, p. 252, no. 304, fig. 408, as the work of Magnasco and a pupil of Peruzzini).
